A multimedia exhibition at the Dock Museum from 5th December to 23rd February exploring local stories of fragility & survival - of nature, of people - in South Cumbria. Through sound, film, images and words, an unseen, unheard world emerges. A world that is just a step away.
The Bellwethers project is the work of 100 people in South Cumbria affected by homelessness, substance recovery and other challenges. They are the 'bellwethers', sounding the warning of our wounded natural environment and the millions of people in Britain who are struggling to survive.
Following currents and tides, between Barrow and Kendal, these Bellwether voices entwine with wind and bird calls. Seeking paths to recovery, finding echoes between nature and human society on the borderline between fragility and survival.
Moments of beauty contrast with struggle and darkness in this compelling many-voiced work. Music, social commentary and immersive visuals unite to make a powerful statement of our times.
