SWSC will be holding an open day with taster sails on Saturday, 16 May, 10am to 3pm. This is part of the RYA's Discover Sailing initiative.
All ages are welcome.
Advance booking is not required and it is free to attend.
Club members will be on site to share more information about all things sailing and our club community. Members will also be on hand to explain rigging and the elements of sailing, and you can try helming on land. Learn how to tie different types of knots, and identify the parts of a boat.
Buoyancy aids are provided for sailing and being on the jetty. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and footwear that you don't mind getting wet. If the weather isn't very warm a windproof coat would be beneficial.
Parking is available on site. You can also walk/cycle via the "West Windermere Way".
Tasty cakes, light lunches, drinks available. At the end of the afternoon, there will be a presentation on the work of the Ellen Macarthur Cancer Trust, which inspires young people to believe in a brighter future through free sailing and outdoor adventures.
