About

Off the beaten track, Keepers Cottage is the perfect retreat for wildlife enthusiasts who want to get away from it all. This unique detached sandstone house, formerly part of High Head Castle Estates, is comfortably furnished and fitted. It stands within wildlife gardens and has exclusive access to 15 acres of private woodlands and river. Nominated a ‘Local Wildlife Site’ in 2006, the woods are home to red squirrels, deer, owls, badgers, kingfishers, heron, and abundant flora that can easily be seen from the cottage.

There are lovely views to the Northern Lake District Fells of Blencathra, Carrock and Caldbeck and pleasant local walks through the woodland,
and nearby countryside. This peaceful haven is an excellent base for cycling, walking, and exploring the Lake District, the Eden Valley, Hadrian’s Wall and the Historic cities of Penrith and Carlisle, 9 miles.

This gem of a property is a natural playground, which will appeal to young and old alike. The owners are committed to care of the environment and have developed an Eco-friendly cottage for future generations to enjoy. Please note access is along a 1⁄2 mile unmade private farm track/public bridleway, which may not be suitable for low slung cars.

First floor: 3 bedrooms - 2 double, one with 6ft bed & wooden floor, 1 twin.
