Mary Mount Hotel is located in the Borrowdale Valley on the shores of Derwentwater, just a short drive from Keswick. From the M6 Leave the M6 at Junction 40 and follow the A66 towards Keswick. Continue for approximately 17 miles. From Keswick At the roundabout outside Keswick, follow signs for Borrowdale/B5289. Stay on the B5289, passing through the village of Grange. Continue along the lakeside road and you will find Mary Mount Hotel on the right-hand side, directly opposite the lake and near the Ashness Bridge turning. Parking Free onsite parking is available for hotel and dining guests. Navigation Tip Some sat-nav systems may route you via alternative narrower mountain roads. To ensure the most straightforward and scenic route, follow signs for Borrowdale via Grange from Keswick.
Mary Mount Hotel is easily reachable without a car and well-connected to local transport links. By Train The nearest major railway station is Penrith North Lakes (approx. 35–40 minutes’ drive). Regular services run from London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. From Penrith station, you can continue your journey to Keswick via bus or taxi. By Bus From Penrith station, take the X4 or X5 bus to Keswick Bus Station. From Keswick, board the Stagecoach 78 Borrowdale bus towards Seatoller. Alight at the Mary Mount Hotel stop — the hotel is a short walk from the bus stop. By Taxi Taxis are available from Penrith and Keswick. We recommend pre-booking in busy seasons. Local Taxi Services Keswick Taxis Davies Taxis Keswick (Ask us if you’d like help arranging a transfer.) Lake Ferry (Seasonal) During the main season, you can also arrive via the Keswick Launch ferry on Derwentwater. Disembark at Ashness Gate jetty, just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.
