266 reviewsLocated in the heart of the Cumbrian countryside, Near Howe is an idyllic, quiet, and tranquil retreat with stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding fells.
A perfect location to explore the Lake District, there are seven high-quality, tastefully decorated, family-friendly self-catering cottages. WiFi is available throughout the cottages, free parking is available on-site and well-behaved dogs are welcome.
The cottages are set in large, spacious grounds with several outdoor seating areas as well as numerous walks from the door.
Saddleback Barn is the largest cottage, sleeping up to seven people in three en-suite bedrooms. It has a large upstairs living area with panoramic views over Blencathra.
Stable Barn sleeps up to five people in two en-suite bedrooms.
Bannerdale is a luxury ground floor apartment sleeping up to four people in two en-suite bedrooms. It is suitable for wheel chairs with one of the bedrooms having a large wet room. There is also a separate sun lounge with magnificent views towards Blencathra.
Sharp Edge is a luxury first floor apartment for two people.
Grisdale View, Howe Top and Howe End are three cottages beautifully converted from an old stable block. Each cottage sleeps up to four people in two rooms, has a bathroom with a shower and bath, and has magnificent views over the fells.
All cottages have well equipped kitchens, use of shared laundry facilities and linen and towels are included. Multiple cottages can be booked to provide the perfect get-away with family or friends.

If you're using a Sat Nav, please use the postcode CA11 0SZ and then the turn off to Near Howe Cottages is slightly further down the road on the right-hand side. The drive crosses two fields, and then rises past an old ruin up to the top of the hill where you will find the property.
From the East (North and South) - Penrith and the M6 Travelling West on the A66 from the M6 Motorway (Junction 40), continue towards Keswick passing the turnoff to Troutbeck (A5091). Continue for approximately 1 mile and take the next right turn signposted Mungrisdale and Caldbeck - the turn off to Near Howe is approximately 1 mile on the right-hand side.
From the West - Keswick If approaching from the West, approximately eight miles past Keswick, turn left at the Mungrisdale and Caldbeck signpost - the turn off to Near Howe is approximately 1 mile on the right-hand side.
