About

Lakes For All provide self-catering, wheelchair access holiday properties in Cumbria for people with physical disabilities and their families.

Rose Cottage is a purpose built 3 bedroom bungalow in the village of Hackthorpe, a stones throw from Lowther Castle and 10 minutes south of Penrith. The bungalow is a single level property with accessible features such as a H-track ceiling hoist, profile bed, ensuite wet room with tilt in space shower commode and a Freedom by Symphony designed kitchen with motorised rise and fall worktop to enable maximum independence during your stay. Lakes For All is passionate about the Lake District, using local suppliers and providing luxury accommodation to all.

This is a fully adapted property for those with physical disabilities. The accessible adaptions are as follows: 

Hallway/ Entrance/ General House:

• Widened hallway with sliding barn style doors to living room, accessible bedroom & kitchen
• Tiled underfloor heating throughout property with individual room control
• Metallic contrasting light switches and sockets to assist visual impairments
• The house itself is all level floors throughout with a wheelchair access ramp to the front, extra wide door, entrance. 

Garden:

• Access to the rear garden is via French doors in the kitchen leading to a level patio area. There is a step down to the grassed area.

Kitchen:

• Symphony freedom designed kitchen featuring a motorised worktop containing hob and sink kitchen table with width considerations for wheelchair access
• 2x food blenders for ease of tube feeding
• Easy hold cutlery

Road Directions

Southbound On The M6 Exit at junction 40. Take the 2nd exit from the roundabout heading East on the A66. At the second roundabout take the 4th exit following signs for Shap / A6. Northbound On The M6 Exit at junction 39 and turn left for Shap. Follow the A6 north until you come through Hackthorpe.

Public Transport Directions

Penrith Train Station has direct links from London Euston, Glasgow and Edinburgh has step free access to both platforms and an accessible toilet on platform 1. Staff help is available during certain times, please check here. Turn up and go is available but pre-booking is recommended. Sadly, at present, there are no wheelchair accessible taxis available in Penrith itself.
