About

We are a relaxed, gourmet getaway nestled in Whinlatter Forest, the only true mountain forest in England, with nine contemporary rooms offering woodland or garden views, it’s a haven of tranquillity and relaxation. Our location is the perfect base to explore the many walking and cycling routes in Whinlatter Forest, to soak up the arts and culture in nearby Keswick and the birth town of William Wordsworth, Cockermouth.

Our Michelin Star restaurant offers a delicious tasting menu, created by Chef Jack Bond using the finest ingredients from Cumbria and further afield in creative, sustainable ways. Enjoy English sparkling wine on our terrace overlooking Skiddaw, and relax in the cosy lounge with a cocktail made from foraged ingredients from the forest.

The Cottage is in a unique, stunning location at the top of Whinlatter Pass with superb views down the valley toward the Skiddaw mountain range. Peaceful setting surrounded by forest and close to the Whinlatter visitors centre and Osprey project. Close proximity to Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite, Buttermere, Crummock Water and Loweswater.
