About

Mentioned by Wordsworth in his poem ‘the Waggoner’, The Swan is tucked beneath the dramatic fells surrounding the timeless Grasmere village in the Lake District. Perfectly places to welcome walkers, outdoor lovers or for catching up with friends and family, discover The Swan in one of the loveliest spots in the Lakes.

The Swan offers all-day dining, so whether you’re lingering over a lazy breakfast, stopping off in between sightseeing, or feasting on a hearty plate of delicious fare after scaling a summit, there’s definitely something for everyone. Enjoy alfresco dining, with a backdrop of epic fells and mountains you’ll almost feel like you’re in a movie. Rest your feet after exploring the Lakes in one of 41 rooms with stunning views.

Well placed to explore the breath-taking scenery and many attractions around Grasmere, no visit is complete without sampling Sarah Nelson’s world-famous Gingerbread. Call into Dove Cottage, where Wordsworth himself lived and St Oswald’s Church where he was buried. For keen walkers, take a climb up Helm Crag and be rewarded with incredible views from the summit.

Outdoor enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, families and pets are always welcome.
