If you are driving to the area then it's good to know where the best places to park are situated, particularly in the busier areas and if your vehicle is electric, where you can charge it. To help, we have included an interactive map of electric vehicle charging points, both public locations, such as car parks and those in private locations such as hotels.
When it comes to parking, scroll further down to find links to each of the district council parking pages, displaying full details of the car parking in each area. Then, keep scrolling down to find a list of car parks around the Lake District and Cumbria to help you plan your journey.

APPLEBY-IN-WESTMORLAND
A small car park in the centre of Dufton. If this is full there is also plenty of parking available round the green or outside the church. All parking is free.
AMBLESIDE
Parking spaces: 210, Motorcycle spaces: Can use any of the spaces with consideration, No height restrictions.
Open every day including bank holidays from 8am to 9pm.

Red Nab Car Park is a parking area on the west shore of Windermere, situated southeast of High Wray.

PENRITH
Pay and display car park with 128 spaces. Cars, bikes and light goods vehicles allowed up to 168 consecutive hours (7 days).
Motorhomes, caravans and coaches up to 24 consecutive hours.
Public toilets are located adjacent to the car park.
COCKERMOUTH
Pay and display car park with 69 spaces. Open 7 days a week.

Broadgate Meadow car park is on the northern edge of Grasmere village. It's next to a children's playground and gives easy access to the village…
AMBLESIDE
Pay and display car park (free to National Trust members) with 16 spaces.
The parking area near Blea Tarn is only a short walk away from the tarn, which offers an open space with stunning scenery.
PENRITH
Pay & Display. (NT members free). High Cascades has 35 spaces, Park Brow has 15 spaces.
Best for accessing the high fells or walking to Aira Force. These smaller pay and display car parks are located just off the A5091.
KESWICK
A small free car park with 20 spaces. Located on the back road to Thornthwaite, off the A66.
Ambleside
Pay & Display Car park with 68 spaces.
Public toilets adjacent to the car park.
Langdale, CONISTON
Pay and display car park with 70 spaces. Located at the end a a steep single track road from Coniston village.
KENDAL
From Kendal, travelling along the Underbarrow Road, Scout Scar car park is the second car park on the right after the road crosses the A591. Satnav may take you beyond the car park as the post code covers a wide area, so keep a lookout for the car…
KESWICK
Pay and display car park with 10 spaces.
Located on the southern end of Thrilmere, just off the A591.
Langdale, AMBLESIDE
Pay and display car park with 34 spaces. Open 7 days a week. Charges apply every day from 9am to 6pm. Nearby are two hotels and there are toilet facilities about 250 yards away.
PENRITH
Car park with 22 spaces. Located between Hartsop and Patterdale, Cow Bridge car park gives easy access to Brothers Water and Hartsop. Parking is free for National Trust Members but charges apply for non members.
SEASCALE
Pay and display car park with 40 spaces. Open 7 days a week. No height restrictions.
Public toilets located adjacent to the car park.
