About

Take to the trees and speed down zip slides. They're part of an exciting course of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and crossings; all set high above the forest floor.

Live life more adventurously and unleash your inner Ape! Bring your tribe and enjoy the UK's No.1 Tree Top Adventure. With breathtaking scenery, epic zip wires and hours of fun - we promise you a day out you'll never forget!

Go Ape offers two to three hours of tree top fun. It's a great way to get outdoors and have some fun. We take one lush, green forest and a healthy dollop of breathtaking scenery; blend with a smattering of tree-top high wires, tricky crossings (using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and super-strong wire) and wind-in-your-face zip wires; and finish off with a liberal dose of people in search of their inner Tarzan.

Located to the east of Coniston Water and to the south of Hawkshead lies Grizedale Forest. Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Grizedale offers an unrivalled day out for everyone. Our jewel in the crown features Zip Trekking Adventure - a network of seven tandem zip lines that traverse the sky-scraping Douglas Firs of our Cumbrian hideaway.

Go Ape Grizedale offers 4 different activities. Minimum requirements apply for each activity so please visit the website to learn more.

Tree Top Adventure

Enjoy two to three hours in the trees taking on Zip Wires, Tarzan Swings, Rope Ladders and a variety of obstacles and crossings; a high ropes course for all the family. Set in a forest of sky-scraping Douglas Firs, Grizedale feels seriously high, mainly due to its vertigo-inducing 19 metre platforms. Our South Lakes adventure features two Zip Wires which fly over the road below!

Tree-top Junior

A fun filled hour of canopy exploring, trail blazing and obstacles for all to enjoy. You’ll negotiate three loops of crossings and finish on a high with two awesome Zip Wires. Grizedale is the only Junior Adventure in our family tree that showcases a tiered course with a “Lobster Pot” change of height crossing!

Forest Segway

Our Segway experience at Grizedale Forest offers the very best of the Lake District. From breathtaking views of Coniston Lake and mountains, to encounters with enchanting waterfalls, our variety of routes ensures there’s something on offer for every ability, whatever the weather. Our stand-on, self-balancing Segways are a brilliant way to discover more of the forest than ever before

Zip Trekking Adventure

Izzy whizzy let’s get zippy…

If you love a zip line, we're with you. We can’t get enough of that free-as-a-bird, pink-cheeked rush – we only wish it could last longer. Well, wish no longer, we hear someone from the Lake District call. Our Zip Trekking Adventure takes two to three hours, and is exclusive to our Grizedale Forest location.

Soaring through the sweet-smelling pines, you’ll get an eagle-eye perspective on the lush green forest below, as well as views of the Old Man of Coniston mountain and Langdale valley.

Zip Trekking Adventure is a network of seven tandem zip lines that traverse the sky-scraping Douglas Firs at Grizedale Forest. An exhilarating way to fly above the forest floor and live life adventurously in a completely new way.

High Wire

The UK's No.1 Forest Adventure. Take to the trees and speed down zip slides. They're part of an exciting course of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and crossings; all set high above the forest floor.

Many of the above facilities are managed by the Forestry Commission.
