About

Take to the trees and speed down zip slides. They're part of an exciting course of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and crossings; all set high above the forest floor.

Live life more adventurously and unleash your inner Ape! Bring your tribe and enjoy the UK's No.1 Tree Top Adventure. With breathtaking scenery, epic zip wires and hours of fun - we promise you a day out you'll never forget!

Go Ape offers two to three hours of tree top fun. It's a great way to get outdoors and have some fun. We take one lush, green forest and a healthy dollop of breathtaking scenery; blend with a smattering of tree-top high wires, tricky crossings (using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and super-strong wire) and wind-in-your-face zip wires; and finish off with a liberal dose of people in search of their inner Tarzan.

Located to the east of Coniston Water and to the south of Hawkshead lies Grizedale Forest. Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Grizedale offers an unrivalled day out for everyone. Our jewel in the crown features Zip Trekking Adventure - a network of seven tandem zip lines that traverse the sky-scraping Douglas Firs of our Cumbrian hideaway.

Go Ape Grizedale offers the following activities. Minimum requirements apply for each activity so please visit the website to learn more.

Tree Top Challenge –

This Treetop Challenge is for the true daredevils. Tackle the staggeringly high platforms and tricky tree to tree crossings. Free-falling through the Douglas firs feels particularly heart-stopping at this thrilling location. Take a trip over the busy road below on one of the two speedy zip lines, or really challenge yourself with the free-fall Tarzan Swing. If you’re looking to smash personal goals and have an incredible experience, this is for you.

Tree Top Adventure –

Start the kiddies young on Treetop Adventure - they only need to be 1m tall.

Go Ape Grizedale is home to our only Treetop Adventure which showcases a tiered course and ‘Lobster Pot’ change of height crossing. We guarantee the two awesome zip wires will have the wind in your hair and put smile on your face. A nice little warm-up circuit before you all progress to more extreme high ropes challenges.

Tree Top Adventure +

This is the perfect high ropes course for family fun with children over 6-years-old. Whether you’re dipping your toe in high-rise thrill seeking or a confident adventurer keen to get stuck in, this course offers two tiers of action packed fun.

Your hour of treetop exploration will begin with full access to the 3 loops of our Adventure course, the perfect place to build your confidence and test your skills. When you're ready, head for the heights of the Adventure+ extension; trickier crossings, wobblier bridges and an even longer zip wire ride back to the ground. High 5s and big smiles all round as you walk off the landing site feeling like a hero.

Zip Trek Adventure –

Buddy up for 3km of tandem zip wiring through the Lake District's sky-scaping Douglas firs. Hike your way up to the highest points in the forest and zip down.  Who can scream the loudest on the 500-metres, longest zip?

Following government guidelines for public transport, as the activity requires a minibuis journey to the start of the course all participants will be required to wear a face mask while in transit. Please bring your own mask or purchase upon arrival.

Forest Segway –

Our Segway experience at Grizedale Forest offers the very best of the Lake District. From breath-taking views of Coniston Lake and mountains to encounters with enchanting waterfalls, our variety of routes ensures there’s something on offer for every ability, whatever the weather. Our stand-on, self-balancing Segway’s are a brilliant way to discover more of the forest than ever before.
