Maryport Golf Club opened in 1905. The layout of the course changed significantly in the early 1990's when the course became a full 18 hole course. The course is unlike many, with 9 holes links and 9 holes parkland. The scenery is quite spectacular, with the 'Solway Firth' coastline to the West, extending to the South West Scottish coastline. To the east is the wonderful 'Lake District'.
On a rare windless day the course can be tamed, however those days are few and far between. With a headwind on the opening holes, the first 2 holes will feel like 2 testing par 5's as opposed to 2 testing par 4's. Most holes have some level of jeopardy in the form of Scad beck, which runs through the course, or with the potential to go 'Out of Bounds' on many holes. At just over 6,000 yds from the 'White' tees, and Par of 70, our course is gaining a reputation as a 'Little' gem.
The various tee boxes allow golfers of all standards the opportunity to come and enjoy our course. Other noteworthy holes are the signature 15th hole , and the par 3 17th. The 15th is a demanding par 4, again this can be very difficult to reach with a head wind. With OOB to the left, this is stroke index 1, and for a reason! The 17th is a very tough hole with gorse, bunkers and OOB some of its dangers. Finally there is the inviting opportunity to drive the par 4 18th, but beware this is once again protected by 'Scad beck', bunkers and OOB. After your round you can be certain of the warmest welcome in the clubhouse, where the members are engaging and friendly.
The reputation of the course continues to grow, and in 2026 we will again host a prestigious county event. Maryport Golf Club are proudly hosting the 2026 Mens' Cumbria Match-play Championships
