About

More Than Mountains was set up over twelve years ago to share our passion for exploring the hills and mountains of the English Lake District. We specialise in designing bespoke days out that are tailored to meet your goals and aspirations. We focus on the land based activities of rock climbing, abseiling, scrambling, navigation courses, guided walks, multi-activity days and winter mountaineering. Our small and friendly company uses highly qualified and knowledgeable instructors whose years of experience is always evident in what they do. Most are full members of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors, many have spent time volunteering with the local Mountain Rescue teams and one has even appeared in Coronation Street!

We can provide half or full day outdoor adventure activity sessions at a variety of locations around Cumbria and the Lake District.

Our introduction to rock climbing sessions are very popular and can be combined with a scramble or abseil. Perfect if you've experienced climbing or bouldering on an indoor wall before or just want to try something new while on holiday or visiting the area.

Our navigation courses can help to teach you how to read a map and use a compass whether you are planning your first walk or want to refresh your skills.

We can guide you to the highest summits in the Lake District, including Scafell Pike or show you how to safely tackle the well known scrambles of Striding Edge on Helvellyn, Sharp Edge on Blencathra and Jack's Rake in amongst the Langdale Pikes.

A half day session starts from £150 and full day from £220.
