We’re Pennington’s Spirits & Liqueurs, a proudly family-run distillery based in Kendal, the gateway to the Lake District National Park. Our distillery is not just where we make our spirits — it’s a place we love to share, inviting visitors to step inside and experience how our drinks are crafted from start to finish.
Our distillery tours and tastings are at the heart of what we do. During your visit, we’ll guide you through the distillation process, explain how we develop flavours, and share the story behind our family business and its deep connection to Kendal. You’ll get up close to the stills, learn about the botanicals and ingredients we use, and gain a real insight into the care and attention that goes into every bottle we produce.
Of course, no tour would be complete without tasting. Guests have the chance to sample a selection from across our range, including gins, spirits and liqueurs, while learning how best to enjoy them at home or in cocktails. Our tastings are relaxed, informative and suitable for both spirits enthusiasts and those completely new to distilling.
We’re best known for our iconic Kendal Mint Cake Liqueur, inspired by the legendary mint cake that has fuelled walkers and adventurers for generations. Alongside this, we produce our Lakeland Moon spirits — a collection of small-batch gins, rums and liqueurs that combine traditional distilling methods, locally sourced botanicals and foraged fruits to create this award-winning range.
Whether you’re visiting Kendal for the day or exploring the Lake District, our distillery tours offer a memorable, hands-on experience and a true taste of local craft.
