About

Scale Force lies to the south of Crummock Water, near the village of Buttermere. At 172 ft it's the highest waterfall in Lakeland, with a single fall of around 120 feet. The waterfall - or ’force’ - totals about 170 feet and is hidden in a deep, tree-lined gorge.
2.5 miles from Buttermere car park - follow signs to fall. Care needed in scrambling to foot of fall.
