About

Max. Day Guests | 50 Max. Evening Guests | 50 Bedrooms | N/A Exclusive Use? | Yes

Perched on the hill above Grasmere, Allan Bank house sits within romantic 19th century wooded pleasure grounds with inspiring lake and mountain views. From here, it’s easy to see why Wordsworth called Grasmere ‘the loveliest spot that man hath ever found’ and what better place to host your Lakeland wedding.

Allan Bank is opening its doors to happy couples from around the globe, ready to host a joyous 'DIY' style celebration surrounded by art and nature. This space is flexible and quirky with indoor and outdoor options. The team is knowledgeable and professional and keen to help you plan your event.

Once home to William Wordsworth, Allan Bank is a historic villa that combines a small, informal art gallery with a giant indoor mural space – it’s a place for artists to explore nature, with plenty of space to sit and enjoy the views. This isn’t a typical National Trust house, its collection of rooms are only partially decorated and ready for your visitors to roam and use as they wish.

Outdoors the informal garden and woodland walk offer inspiring lake and mountain views with historic features, bothy and kitchen garden. The newly restored Billiard Room, a picturesque pavilion built in 1836, features original stained glass windows and could host up to 70 guests for a ceremony.
