Celebrate 80 years of Brathay with a fun-filled family event at Brathay Hall on Saturday 26 September 2026.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Windermere, this special anniversary celebration promises an afternoon and evening packed with adventure, entertainment and community spirit. Have a go on the zip line, climbing wall, canoeing, high challenge course and orienteering, or enjoy the Gruffalo Trail with younger family members.
Meet Olympic medallist and Brathay Ambassador Fatima Whitbread MBE, enjoy live music, browse an exhibition showcasing Brathay's 80-year history, and tuck into a range of street food, coffee, ice cream and drinks, including a special edition Jennings Brathay Brew.
As darkness falls, the celebrations will conclude with a unique outdoor digital production projected onto the front of Brathay Hall, bringing our 80-year story to life.
With free parking and something for all ages, visitors and locals alike are invited to join this special celebration.

Brathay is a youth charity that inspires young people to build brighter futures through life-changing experiences in the Lake District and targeted support for young people and families across South Cumbria and Bradford.

The entrance to Brathay Hall is located on the B5286 at Clappersgate. Please follow event parking signs and directions from our parking marshals on arrival.
Brathay Hall is accessible by public transport. The Stagecoach 505 bus service between Kendal and Coniston stops at Clappersgate, approximately a 5-minute walk from the venue. The Stagecoach 555 service between Keswick and Lancaster stops in Ambleside, around 1 mile from Brathay Hall.
The nearest railway stations are Windermere and Oxenholme. Windermere Station provides connections to Oxenholme and Manchester Airport, while Oxenholme is on the West Coast Main Line with direct services north and south.
