One of the UK's most scenic endurance events is set to return on 6-7 June, as participants from across the country prepare to take on the Lake District Ultra Challenge.
Taking in iconic sights in the south and east of the National Park, Ultra Challenge is also proud to highlight some lesser visited Cumbrian areas. More than 1,500 walkers, joggers and runners will tackle distances ranging from 100km, 50km, 25km and 10km, looping through dramatic mountain scenery, lakeside trails and rolling countryside
Starting and finishing in Kendal, the route takes in some of the region's most iconic natural landmarks, including the Garburn Pass, historic Ambleside and western edge of Lake Windermere, offering participants not just a physical test, but an unforgettable experience in one of the UK's most loved outdoor destinations.
With options to complete the challenge solo or as part of a team, the event is open to all abilities, from seasoned ultra-endurance athletes to first-time challengers looking to push themselves further. Most participants walk the event, while some will run the full distance, and others mixing the two together.
Participants will also be raising funds for a wide range of charities, with the event continuing to be a popular choice for fundraising efforts across the UK. Last year's event raised £750,000 for charity.
The organisers, Ultra Challenge, take great pride in ensuring the highest level of support for participants, with industry-leading rest stops, medical teams, and fully marked routes providing a safe and encouraging environment throughout the course.
As preparations ramp up, organisers are expecting strong interest once again, with many places already filled and a vibrant event village planned in Kendal for participants and supporters alike.
