Meteors, AKA “shooting stars”, always elicit a “wow” when they streak across the skies.  It’s no surprise then that meteor showers can be the highlight of the astronomical year – a chance to stand under dark skies and be mesmerised as they trail across the sky.

But what are meteors? Why do meteor showers occur at the same time every year? What can meteors tell us about our solar system?

This longer than usual event makes the most of the evening to observe as well as learn about the meteor shower, including plenty of time to use our telescopes whilst experiencing it all.
