Join Art Gene and CONCRETE for a walk along Walney Promenade, sound work 'MAS(S)', which turns refugee testimony into a choral vocal siren.
Created by artists Tristan Shorr and Rae Champion (CONCRETE) in collaboration with Scottish artist Lomond Campbell, MAS(S) explores migration, refugees, war and loss through the human voice.MAS(S) is an acronym of the work's original title Make A Stand, representing an uprising of people, voices, protests, and the power of song in the form of a choral mass.
Alongside an exhibition of generative sound sculptures at the Art Gene Gallery, we will be hosting two walks along Walney Promenade. Recorded sounds from MAS(S) will accompany our walk, culminating in a voice siren which will call out along the coastline.
