Join us for a trip down memory lane
Did you travel on the last train from Haltwhistle to Alston? Would you like to help commemorate 50 years since that historic journey on Saturday 2nd of May?
We are marking this special anniversary with a relaxed and nostalgic celebration, and we would love you to be part of it. Join us for a memorable journey on our steam train from Alston to Slaggyford, retracing a stretch of line that holds so many memories for local people and railway enthusiasts alike.
Before setting off, take time to settle in and enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake at The Crossing Café, where you can catch up with friends and share stories of journeys past. Once on board, sit back and enjoy the sights, sounds and atmosphere of steam travel as we make our way along the line.
At Slaggyford, the only other original station open there will be time to enjoy a Jersey ice cream from the new ice cream parlour, followed by a sweet treat from the buffet car on your return. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the past, enjoy the present, and be part of a truly special day on the railway.
