About

Cumbria Tourism Award 2024 for self-catering accommodation of the year
Cumbria Tourism Award 2024 for self-catering accommodation of the year

Netherby Hall is a grade II* mansion house just outside Longtown, Carlisle. Bought in 2014 by Gerald and Margo Smith, who have since restored the stable block using original fittings, but incorporated 3 luxury apartments also. There are 9 units of accommodation in total within the 36 acres of beautiful grounds. Almost 1 acre is taken up by the Walled Garden, complete with restored Victorian Glasshouses, and a kitchen garden which provides for our sister Michelin Star restaurant with rooms - Pentonbridge Inn. Complimentary Mercedes minibus transfer available to and from Pentonbridge Inn.

Netherby Hall itself is steeped in history, our apartments are modern and fresh, each with their own characteristics which makes them unique. We offer a tranquil, quiet and picturesque environment for you to relax and unwind.

The site and accommodation is also dog friendly, some of the team even bring their four legged friend to work! And if you wish to bring yours, we will ensure they are looked after just as well as you are.

We also hold events throughout the year, including open garden days, an annual car show weekend, craft fairs and classical music concerts.

Clock Tower (one-bedroom apartment)

The Clock Tower offers an unbeatable romantic escape, a charming hideaway nestled under the eaves of the stable courtyard, with our beautifully restored, modern carriage house below. The open-plan living area boasts wood burning stove, exposed beams and is elegantly appointed with modern, minimalist furnishings, creating a spacious and comfortable setting.

Unwind in the luxurious king-size bedroom, complete with a fabulous en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and a spacious walk-in wardrobe.  There is also a sofa bed in the living area if required.

Furnished to a high standard, the living area combines a cozy fireside nook with a well-equipped corner kitchen and dining space, ensuring comfort and convenience.

For an added touch, step up a level to discover a generous en-suite bedroom with sweeping views over the lawn. Facing west, it offers breathtaking sunsets each evening. The en-suite bathroom is palatial, featuring both a luxurious walk-in shower and a free-standing bath—perfect for savouring those little luxuries when you have time to relax and unwind.
