Rogan & Co is the informal neighbourhood restaurant opened by Simon Rogan in 2008. The restaurant offers a more relaxed dining experience to its neighbour L'Enclume, whilst continuing to showcase the influencers and techniques Simon Rogan has become so widely known for.
Located in the centre of the medieval village of Cartmel, beside the River Eea, housed in building with a rich history, with parts dating to 1642, Rogan & Co to this day continues to play a central role in village life.
The restaurant is designed in a simple and informal style, rustic exposed beams, a cosy fireplaces, complimented by a muted colour palette and original wooden floors, ensures that the food is at the very heart of the experience. Although relaxed in both style and service, the attention to detail in each of the dishes served saw Rogan & Co awarded with its first Michelin Star in 2018.
Rogan & Co's menu features produce from Our Farm, Simon's farm located on the edge of Cartmel. Established in 2009, Our Farm is dedicated to strengthening the link between food, its development and the environment, whilst setting out to further nurture and develop the relationship between cooking and growing. This is a place where growers and chefs work side-by-side, an extension of the same ethos, drive and attention to detail found Simon's restaurants. In addition Rogan & Co's menus also feature ingredients sourced from the finest producers, farmers and growers from across the region, showcasing Simon's farm-to-table ethos.
The same attention to detail can be seen throughout the wine list, which showcases the best natural and organic wines from around the world. Anvil Pale Ale also features on the drink’s menu, Simon's own beer brewed in Unsworth's Yard Brewery located a stone's throw from Rogan & Co.
As you would expect, breakfast at Rogan & Co is an experience in itself. It begins with a delicious whisky porridge glazed with Demerara and served with compote prepared by Rogan & Co chefs using preserved fruits from Simon's 'Our farm’. Each breakfast course features only the very best local ingredients, including freshly laid eggs collected from 'Our Farm,' milk from Wraysholme Creamery, freshly baked artisan breads with Winter Tarn butter, and all accompanied by a selection of specially blended teas and coffees, sourced and crafted by local suppliers.
There are 16 elegant, individually designed, guest bedrooms which are located around the village of Cartmel. Each is designed with their own unique style in mind, whilst retaining references to their historic surroundings – resulting in perfect havens from which to enjoy the stunning surroundings of the Lake District, the delights of medieval Cartmel and of course Simon's restaurants in the village.
