About

Tucked away in the heart of Ravenglass, where the mountains meet the sea and the little railway winds its way into the Eskdale Valley, you’ll find The Ratty Arms.

It’s the kind of place where you can come in after a day exploring the Lakes, settle down with a good drink, enjoy something delicious to eat, and simply take your time.

Ravenglass has always been a place of comings and goings. Trains arrive and depart, walkers pass through, families come to explore, and locals meet for a drink and a chat. We wanted The Ratty Arms to be part of that story, a place that feels connected to the village, its people and the railway that has been part of Ravenglass for generations.

Our food

Our food takes inspiration from both sides of the Channel.

You’ll find familiar pub favourites alongside dishes with a Mediterranean influence fresh ingredients, generous portions and plenty of flavour. Nothing too complicated. Just good food made to be enjoyed.

And whether you’ve come for lunch, dinner, a drink after a walk, or a takeaway to enjoy somewhere along the coast, there’s always a place for you here.

From the railway to the table

Being just moments from the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, The Ratty Arms has become part of many journeys.

Some people arrive by steam train. Some arrive muddy from the fells. Some have been walking along the coast. Others simply came because they fancied a pint and something to eat.

And that’s exactly what we like about it.

The Ratty Arms is a place to relax, eat well, have a drink and feel at home.

Whether you’re a railway enthusiast, a walker, a visitor discovering Ravenglass for the first time, or just passing through, we’re always happy to see you.

So pull up a chair, grab a drink and stay a while.

The journey may have brought you to Ravenglass, but hopefully The Ratty Arms will give you a reason to stay.
