The Ship Hotel is a 17th century coaching inn. Centre of a village community, in a pleasant seaside holiday village overlooking the Solway Firth and across the road from a big play park. Serving delicious home cooked pub meals along with an extensive bar with an outdoor seating area. Originally built in the late 18th Century it served travellers on the Workington to Carlisle Road. Historic England notes that Charles Dickens stayed here on a tour of the Lakes in 1856.
