The Yew Tree is a historic Lakeland pub tucked at the foot of Honister Pass, dating back to 1628, making it one of Cumbria’s oldest pub. Thoughtfully restored, it blends traditional charm with modern touches, offering a warm welcome to walkers, locals, and visitors exploring the stunning Borrowdale Valley.
Perfectly positioned on the world-famous Coast to Coast walking route, The Yew Tree is proud to be an Official Passport Stamping Agent, a popular stop for walkers in need of hearty food, a refreshing drink, and a well-earned rest.
Our gastro bar menu puts a fresh twist on classic pub favourites. We serve locally sourced, hearty dishes and local ales. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, from quality meats to seasonal vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Just a short drive from Keswick, The Yew Tree is ideally located near some of the Lake District’s most iconic destinations, including Buttermere (approx. 4 miles), Honister Slate Mine (1.4 miles), and the scenic landscapes of Borrowdale. Whether you're coming down from Haystacks, Catbells, or Great Gable, we're the perfect post-walk stop!
We are a dog-friendly pub with a special menu for dogs. We take pride in our tasty food, great local beers, and warm Cumbrian hospitality. Come enjoy a memorable experience with us!
