About

River Expedition Training Weekend Saturday 19th – Sunday 20th Oct

Focussed coaching to develop advanced skills for river expeditions. This weekend will enable participants to develop, improve and refine more advanced paddling skills in order to undertake expeditions on grade 2 and 3 rivers.

River Expedition Training Weekend for canoe

Key information

19 Oct 2024, 10.00 – 20 Oct 2024, 16:00
On one of the rivers of Cumbria or Southern Scotland dependent on conditions and capabilities of participants

About the Event

Difficulty Level: Advanced, participants will be expected to have previous experience of paddling on rivers of at least grade 2

Cost of guiding: £250 per person, (members £180), plus canoe hire £50 per boat

max 6 participants

With the support of expert coaching, participants will be supported to develop and improve a range of paddling skills including analysis of paddle-canoe-water interactions as well as planning and packing for a river expedition. The coach has over 20 years experience of undertaking advanced water paddling expeditions across the UK.

Although it will be anticipated that you have access to a canoe of your own, to assist with travel, canoes and paddling equipment can be provided if needed. You will need to bring your own clothing and food. Overnight accommodation will be arranged in a bunkhouse type of provision, but this is optional.

Collection and drop off is possible from Carlisle train station by prior arrangement.
