Introduction to Mountain Flora
This tutored course is designed for those who want to be able to identify flowers of the British mountains and understand them in context. The course will cover the ecology of the plants including geology and soils rather than simply identifying individual plants. We will also consider ethno-biology of some of the plants.
Part I will cover different ecological contexts of plants in the Lake District from sea level to mountain tops.
Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing)
We will journey through woodland experiencing the natural world in a slow meditative way, seeking connection with the wild through all our senses. Each meditative journey will last around 3hrs. Routes will be chosen depending on the precise nature of the journey, the group’s needs, and the season.
