You are here: Home > Things to Do > The Lakeland Model Village
The Lakeland Model Village showcases dozens of miniature buildings crafted from locally sourced Coniston slate. Over the past 25 years, local builder Edward Robinson carefully created each one by hand, faithfully recreating some of Cumbria’s most beloved farms and cottages, including Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top and the Bridge House in Ambleside.
Following Edward Robinson’s retirement, the entire collection has been thoughtfully relocated to its new setting within the grounds of the Damson Dene Hotel. Nestled against the breathtaking backdrop of the Lyth Valley, the village once again offers visitors and families the chance to experience and appreciate these charming historic replicas.
The Lakeland Model Village is open every day of the year 9am – 5:30 for visitors to explore some of the Lake District’s most iconic buildings in miniature format. Take photographs alongside our life size bronze figures of Beatrix Potter and renowned local writer and poet John Ruskin, before stepping through the turnstile to the village itself.
Visitors can purchase an entry token from the hotel reception.
