Pianist & Composer: Simeon Walker
Versatile and prolific Leeds-based pianist & composer Simeon Walker has quickly emerged as a leading light in the burgeoning Modern Classical scene, following the release of his albums Mono and Winnow.
Simeon performs and tours regularly across the UK and Europe, including a 28-date UK Autumn Tour in 2023. He has supported a variety of high-profile artists including S. Carey, Neil Cowley, LYR, Submotion Orchestra, Erland Cooper, Loscil & Niklas Paschburg; and performed notable live sets at Latitude & Timber Festivals. His piece 'Reverie' features on the first official Piano Day compilation (2022) by the LEITER label, alongside Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds and Chilly Gonzales.
His music receives regular broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, BBC 6Music, KEXP, NTS and Soho Radio, with his music receiving listening figures in excess of 40 million streams across platforms. He also founded and continues to curate Brudenell Piano Sessions; an intimate and varied live music series highlighting the diverse music being composed and performed on the piano, hosted at Leeds' iconic Brudenell Social Club.
His music and live performances reflect the extremes of human experience - gentle, calm and still at times; powerful, boisterous and flowing at others, with the aim of breaking down the barriers between performer and audience, whilst aiming to reach new, younger and more diverse audiences for classical-inspired music. Listeners are invited to find stillness, beauty and meaning as much in the spaces between the notes as the notes themselves, with the overall aim of creating opportunities for genuine connection through music - not just through idle, passive listening - but in meaningful, engaged participation.
