Doors open 11.30am, screening starts 12pm. Eight short films from the UK, Canada, Finland and
China make up the Ulverston programme, followed by a live Q&A with guest filmmakers. The same
evening, a filmmaker networking event takes place at The Sun Inn, Ulverston, bringing together
creative talent from across Lancashire and Cumbria. Both events are supported by Ulverston Town
Council.
The Bay Short Film Festival returns this summer for its third consecutive year, bringing a curated
programme of award-winning international and Northern short films to communities across
Morecambe Bay. The three-day tour runs from 3 to 5 July 2026, visiting Carnforth, Ulverston and
Barrow-in-Furness, with each stop combining a short film screening with live filmmaker Q&As,
audience voting for Best Film, and community discussion.
The tour is the summer touring edition of The Bay International Film Festival, an established
independent cinema event held in Morecambe each January. While the winter festival showcases
features, workshops and industry events, the summer programme concentrates purely on short films
— bringing fresh international and homegrown Northern content, much of it unseen by Morecambe
Bay audiences before, directly into local venues.
