'Landscapes of the Lake District' in Oils, with Roy Simmons ... Beginners and intermediates.
'PROPER' PAINTING! Of course oil paint has that reputation, deserved or not, for its many qualities. Blending with oil paint is a wonderful thing, as you will discover on this course. You can employ loose and lively brushwork, which is the key to creating engaging paintings. After introducing the materials and equipment, we will do a couple of quick studies, step by step, to loosen up and gain confidence. Following this we will paint a landscape, again step by step, working from a supplied photograph. After that you will be free to paint your own choice of landscape from supplied photos, of which there will be many.
Please bring: £10 for all materials which will be provided. You will need to bring an apron or old shirt to protect your clothes. Also atleast 2 newpapers (Broadsheet please) to protect your desk/floor. We will remove the seat cushions for this course so feel free to bring an old cushion to sit on if needed! You will take home atleast two original Oil Paintings, but they will be wet and will need to be transported carefully home in large pizza boxes. Up to 2 boxes will be included in your £10 materials charge. Further boxes can be bought on the day for £1 each. .
