12.30-2pm | Open to Families – Children aged 5+ with a responsible adult
Turn a special (or silly!) family memory into art in this story-focused drawing workshop with children's book illustrator, Sarah Jane Docker.
What will the workshop cover and how will it be taught?
In this workshop, participants will bring a family memory to life through drawing, as a mini comic, a book, or a single piece of art to tell their story.
Participants will be guided through a basic narrative art-making process, starting with writing their memory down as words and thinking about the people or places in the story, before bringing it to life as art that they can share with other family members and friends forever.
Taught using simple steps that cater to most ability levels, this workshop will cover some basic storytelling and illustration-making methods that budding artists can then build on and use again in the future!
For younger children, steps can be simplified and less structured.
Each participant will go home with a piece of art made by them that serves to share their special memory with others.
