About
Join Ravenglass Railway Museum as we team up with Eskdale Mill for a day of steam trains and waterpower. The day begins at Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Station with a behind-the-scenes museum tour before boarding this historic railway line for a 7 mile journey taking you to the station of Dalegarth for Boot. You will be guided on a heritage walk into Boot village and Eskdale Mill, the last intact watermill in the Lake District. Discover 500 years of water power in this rural community and find out more about the industries of Eskdale as we walk along the old section of 3 ft gauge railway line which ran to Boot station. Followed by a tour of the atmospheric watermill and their fascinating exhibitions, you will be guided back to Dalegarth station.

From M6 junction 36, follow the brown Western Lake District signs to Broughton-in-Furness, passing Newby Bridge on the A590 and turning right at Greenodd onto the A5092. From Broughton, follow the A595 to Silecroft T junction (turn right) and beyond.
From M6 junction 40, follow the brown Western Lake District signs past Keswick and Bassenthwaite Lake on the A66 towards Cockermouth. Turn left at the Cockermouth roundabout onto the A5086. Follow the A5086 to Egremont where it joins the A595. Turn left for Ravenglass following the A595.

Arrive by Train
Leave the car behind and visit us by train from Lancaster and Morecambe, Grange-over-Sands, Windermere, Preston. Regular Northern trains travel on the scenic Cumbrian Coast Line calling at Ravenglass every day.
Arrive by Bus
Leave the car behind and travel by bus. Bus services (Route X7/7) now operate between Whitehaven, Ravenglass, and Barrow offering four daily, round-trip journeys.
