After winding your way up the drive, through fields and an acre of walled gardens, Birkdale House welcomes you. At the front of the house, the spacious drawing room looks out across the gardens through a traditional bay window, while a peaceful library sits tucked away at the end of the hallway. Both rooms have log-burning stoves, making them cosy places to settle in at any time of year.

The elegant dining room seats up to twelve with French doors open onto the terrace for summer dining, while a log-burning stove keeps things warm and welcoming in the cooler months.

The traditional country kitchen is fully equipped with a Rangemaster cooker, American-style fridge-freezer and coffee machine. A generous welcome hamper, filled with local produce, awaits your arrival. Downstairs, the former cellar has been transformed into a bright, sociable space with a pool table, table football and a cinema room. 

The five beautifully designed bedrooms all enjoy views across Lake Windermere, the surrounding fells or peaceful countryside. Each room has its own character, combining original charm with contemporary comforts, bespoke furniture and carefully chosen antiques.

Summergrove and Goosemire have super king beds, Peasedale a king, Longmire can be arranged as a super king or twin, and Undermillbeck has twin beds. Two rooms have en-suite shower rooms, while Goosemire, Longmire and Undermillbeck share two contemporary family bathrooms, plus a ground-floor shower room. 
Around the house, the terrace has an outdoor dining area, fire pit, Big Green Egg barbecue, sun loungers and cosy rugs for stargazing.

Stone steps lead down to a large lawn, perfect for games, while mature woodland beyond provides a haven for wildlife and plenty of adventures for younger guests. Secluded gardens give direct access to a variety of walks around Matson Ground Farm and further afield.
