Set within its own grounds, this classic Victorian Lakeland property features ample parking and beautiful views throughout. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful escape or planning a fun-filled family adventure, it provides a comfortable base for exploring Ambleside and the wider Lake District.

With countless activities and outdoor pursuits nearby, the central location makes discovering the Lakes both simple and enjoyable. Whether you’re escaping the city for a relaxing break or planning an adventure packed weekend with the kids, Rothay Garth provides a comfy base to enjoy Ambleside and beyond! Take a browse of our room types and their features, from cosy to superior rooms there is sure to be an ideal room for your needs!

At Rothay Garth, some of our rooms are suitable for dogs. Please note that dogs are only allowed in dog-friendly rooms, which must be booked directly with us. A flat fee of £25 applies to any dog-friendly room. If you arrive with a dog without a dog-friendly room booked, a £50 fee will be added to your bill. Dogs are not permitted to be left unattended in rooms at any time, and doing so may result in additional charges or fines of up to £200. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact us before your arrival.

Road Directions

From M6 jct 36, follow A590/A591 for 19 miles to Ambleside. Continue on main road through Ambleside, at the bottom of Wansfell Road turn right, keep in right-hand lane, entrance to Rothay Garth car park in 50yds on the right

Public Transport Directions

By train to Windermere station then either take a taxi direct to Rothay Garth or get 555 bus to Ambleside. At main bus stop go right down the hill onto Rothay Road, walk for 100 yards, Rothay Garth is on the left-hand side.
