The Black Swan is a charming 16-bedroom, 4* AA, 2 Rosette Highly Commended Inn in a gorgeous conservation village with separate restaurant, small private restaurant, bar and lounge. Beautifully restored/refurbished, our family run Inn offers a relaxed, informal home-from-home with cosy bars and lounge and beautifully en suite rooms with lots of little extras. Excellent selection of local Cask ales & wines.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our food, served daily in our busy and popular 2 rosette restaurant, bar or lounge. Our menu is small but varied, and all of our dishes are freshly prepared using local seasonal ingredients sourced from our local suppliers. Our Award winning Inn is featured in the Michelin Guide, CAMRA, Good Hotel Guide & Good Pub Guide, Sawday's. We have won numerous awards, most recently AA gold award 2018 for quality inspection, AA breakfast award 2109, John Smith's national best Inn winner 2018-2019, Cumbria Life dining pub of the year finalist 2019 and 2019 Pub of the year at the Cumbria Tourism awards.
The Black Swan is dog-friendly and we have our own beautiful riverside garden. Ideal for visiting the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland and beyond. The Settle-Carlisle railway and Coast to Coast walk are very close-by.
Also onsite, in a riverside woodland in the grounds of the Black Swan, we have 3 wood and canvas glamping yurts, with electricity, full size king beds and log burning stoves.
