Cumbrian hospitality and local produce
The Royal at Dockray is a family run traditional country hotel offering the best of Cumbrian hospitality. The Ullswater valley is a food lover’s paradise, and our pub and restaurant strive to source and promote local suppliers with some of the best produce on our doorstep, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
Wholesome Sunday lunches
Sunday lunch is served every Sunday from 12 until 2.30pm. Work up an appetite walking up Gowbarrow or down to Aira Force waterfall, then enjoy wholesome, homemade dishes in our warm, relaxed Lakeland pub.
Seasonal menus for every taste
Our seasonal menus and daily specials often feature slow braised lamb shanks, fresh Cumbrian trout and legendary homemade shortcrust pies. A childrens menu is always available, together with a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes so that everyone can find something to enjoy.
Beer garden with Lakeland views
Our wonderful beer garden, described as the best this side of the Pennines, is the perfect place for a post hike drink or whiling away a warm summer afternoon. From regeneratively farmed pedigree shorthorn cattle at Gowbarrow Hall supplying mince for our burgers, to local venison, slow grown pork, free range eggs from Lucy’s chickens and herbs from our own kitchen garden, we are proud of the ingredients that make their way to your plate.
Real ales from independent breweries
Being a free house gives us the freedom to work with many small Cumbrian breweries, with real ales from Keswick, Tirril, Coniston and Cumbrian Legendary Ales regularly appearing on the bar. Book direct with us for the best price, guaranteed, and start planning your next escape to Dockray and the Ullswater valley.
