The Temperance Inn is located in the heart of the Lake District’s walking capital, Ambleside, known for it’s bustling atmosphere, unbeatable mountain views and winding streets. The Temperance Inn is the perfect place to eat, drink, sleep and explore this iconic corner of the Lake District from, whether you want to scale challenging fells, explore the banks of Windermere or stroll through the picturesque countryside.

After a busy day exploring, enjoy the comfort of a cosy inn, with delicious homecooked pub food and an impressive range of local ales to enjoy. Sit back and relax in the newly refurbished rooms or rest your head in one of our blissfully comfy beds. Whether you are travelling solo, exploring with friends, on a romantic staycation or enjoying a family getaway the wide range of rooms available at The Temperance Inn means there is somewhere for everyone.

Great food is the main attraction at The Temperance Inn and the chefs have been hard at work creating fantastic seasonal menus, using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. The menu is brimming with tasty choices, with a wide range of delicious family favourites as well as culinary twists. Don’t forget to leave room for one of our irresistible homemade desserts!

With food served all day every day, the Temperance Inn is a fantastic place to fuel up with a fine breakfast, pause for a moment over delicious lunchtime dishes or linger over delicious evening meals. Our brilliant kids menu means that there is something for everyone, filled with tasty favourites keeping everyone happy!
