Love Culture - Visit Lake District

It’s ‘Love Culture Week’, running across seven days from Monday 17 August, and we’d love you to get involved and make the most of our world-class cultural offering: from stunning museums and galleries, to an array of heritage sites and a blend of unique cultural attractions waiting for you to rediscover.

With a landscape that inspired poets, painters and dreamers, it’s no wonder the Lake District, Cumbria is alive with arts and culture: a vibrant movement of artists and creatives pushing boundaries in literature, performance and contemporary art.

Love Culture - Dove Cottage - Wordsworth Grasmere

2020 is the 250th anniversary of William Wordsworth whose work is synonymous with the Lake District and the landscape. With the reopening of a ‘reimagined’ Dove Cottage over the weekend (Saturday 15 August), it’s the perfect time to explore the places which inspired one of the world’s best-known poets and thinkers.

In fact there are thousands of years of history and heritage echoing throughout the Lake District, Cumbria - from castles and stately homes, to steam trains and stone circles… So it’s not only the #theperfectplacetorediscover, but also #theperfectplacetoreflect on times gone by and explore how the past affects all our lives today.

We’re encouraging you to get involved with our social media activity throughout ‘Love Culture Week’. On Thursday 20 August, we are also asking you to join us in sharing #ThrowbackThursday photos from your previous holidays and day trips featuring arts, heritage and culture and say why you can’t wait to visit us again!  Get involved on the official Facebook page.
