This award-winning vegetarian restaurant in the centre of Ambleside serves up an Italian themed pizza and pasta menu. There are plenty of vegan options, and something for all the family to enjoy - making this a great place to take the family! It’s a popular spot, so book ahead to be sure of a table. There’s also a jazz bar, daytime cafe, and a cinema, which offers a popular movie & dinner deal including a 2 course meal and reserved cinema seat.

A self-described ‘Vegeterranean’ restaurant in the heart of Ambleside, Fellinis offers a relaxed atmosphere and a sophisticated vegetarian menu with Mediterranean influences. Local, seasonal produce is a key feature; while the wine list has plenty of vegan options. Upstairs, a studio cinema shows art-house and independent films; a movie meal deal is available for anyone wishing to combine the two.
 

Upfront Gallery and Vegetarian Restaurant

In a charming rural location not far from Penrith, you’ll find the Upfront Gallery, Puppet Theatre, Music Venue and Vegetarian Cafe: a fantastic destination for arts, culture and delicious food and drink! The theatre hosts productions to delight all ages, while the gallery features exhibitions by local, national and international artists. The on site cafe is fully vegetarian, with delicious home cooked breakfasts and lunches, alongside delicious cakes and hot drinks. There are great vegan options, and other dietary requirements can also be catered to.

Lingholm Kitchen

With a 100 foot long glass wall offering views of a walled garden and up to Skiddaw, this cafe is a striking place to enjoy coffee and brunch, lunch or cake. Vegan options are available, with dishes all home cooked and delicious.

The grounds are home to the Lingholm Estate, where Beatrix Potter herself spent ten summer holidays between 1885 - 1907. The former kitchen gardens were credited by Potter as providing the inspiration for Mr McGregor’s garden in The Tale of Peter Rabbit; today, the walled garden sits on the same spot and is open for visitors to explore.
 

Gillam’s Tea Room

A traditional tearoom in the heart of bustling Ulverston, Gillam’s is a local institution - the family’s history in the town dates back to 1892. Gillam’s Tearoom itself was opened in 2006, in a beautifully restored 18th century building. Visit for speciality coffee, quality loose leaf teas, and traditional tea room delights. Cakes are baked on site using organic ingredients, and plenty of vegan options are available. The terraced garden is perfect for warm summer days.

A relaxed atmosphere awaits at this laid-back restaurant serving up pan-Asian dishes inspired by countries along the spice trail, and including a nod to Cumbria’s history as a vital part of the spice trade.
