About

Situated on the western fells near Ennerdale, Pillar is the 11th largest mountain in the area and forms part of the Mosedale Horseshoe stretching from Steeple to Yewbarrow
Ancient shepherds named Pillar after the rocky outcrop between ascent and summit, so beloved of adventurous climbers.
The craggy northern face offers a challenge to the many mountaineers that visit Pillar although a less arduous route to the wide flat summit, much loved by walkers, is the route from The Wasdale Head Inn near Wasdale.
