Welcome to Swim the Lakes ~ The Lake District Open Water Swimming Specialists.

Swimming in the Lake District is our passion, and we invite you to come and share this wild swimming paradise with us and our friendly, experienced team.

Our swimming adventures are based all-around the Lake District and vary in the length of swimming and walking.

Join us on a Day Swimming Adventure where you will be guided through an amazing journey in water and on land all with amazing views or stay a little longer on our one of our 3 day Adventure Swimming Breaks, where you can relax and go with the flow.
If you only have time for a short dip then plunge into a guided short wild swim or get a feel for the water with our popular Wild Swim Taster Sessions and Introduction to Open Water Swimming Courses. 
All our swims are led by experienced professional, lifeguard swim guides.

We have a fully loaded open water swimming shop in Ambleside, the heart of the Lake District, where we strive to provide the best service, wetsuits and equipment to suit your needs plus a wetsuit fitting service to ensure you get the perfect wetsuit.

Adventure Swim Days

Come with us on a day’s adventure swim, where we combine some walking and swimming to take us on a journey through this amazing landscape.  Each adventure swim day differs in the ratio of swimming and walking. We have everything from walking through picture book scenery to fabulous mountain swims, to longer swimming trips which take in the fascinating shoreline and islands of the larger lakes. How about Easing into Easedale, a classic walk rewarded by a beautiful tarn swim and feeling like a kid again jumping into crystal clear pools of water? Or perhaps a bit of Island Hoping Lake District style?

Adventure Swim Breaks

Extended swimming adventures over a perfect weekend or mid-week break. Dive-in, fully immerse yourself with like minded souls. These trips are where you’ll meet swimming buddies for life. Fun, adventure and amazing experiences are paramount. Explore classic lakes in the Windermere Wild Swim Adventure and the Utterly Buttermere Swim Adventure, or challenge yourself to swim across all the Lakes in the Great Lake District Swim Challenges.

Short Wild Swims

Short Wild Swims are great mini-adventures. Why not try a wild swim through the tranquil Lake District Vale revered by famous Lakeland poets? Or perhaps you fancy swimming down a river without a paddle, exploring a secret river venue which is home to the kingfisher, otter and perch Short Wild Swims are usually half a day (morning or evening), and are perfect for beginners and intermediate outdoor swimmers.

Open Water Swimming Courses

We run a very popular Introduction to Open Water Swimming Course throughout most of the Spring and summer from April to September, please book early to avoid disappointment.
