A Geography of Absence: Walking the small town: An illustrated talk with Julian Hyde

Over many years Julian Hyde has been building an accidental archive of material gathered from the side streets of Windermere.
In this talk he will share aspects of the archive: poetic impressions, chanced upon dialogue, collages of found objects found on these looped walks and photographs taken as hallucinatory evidence.
One of the key influences on the work has been the psychogeography of writer Iain Sinclair who suggests that we are, " never more than extension of the ground on which we walk." Julian's talk explores how through his own obsessive walking of a place where seemingly very little happens, he discovered the portals where the ordinary is revealed as Wonder.

The talk will close with a rare screening of the almost lost 2017 short film " Dissolve Our Maps"
