The Gloriana Choir is only six months old. A group of singers met earlier this year to sing through a choral work recently composed by Charles Edmondson. Following this, it was decided to form a small choir to rehearse and perform both sacred and secular pieces. The choir comprises six sopranos, six contraltos, two tenors & two basses
The Ladies' section of the choir will be giving its first concert in the Fratry Hall on 5 November. They will be performing a variety of pieces from around the world, ranging from a piece which was composed in the precincts of Carlisle Cathedral to four pieces from America.
Members of the choir come together from a wide area in South Lakeland and are directed by Charles Edmondson who lives in Kendal and from a very early age has been involved with several choirs, as a singer, conductor, accompanist, administrator, librarian and arranger and composer of choral works. He has just completed writing a choral setting of the Mass/Holy Communion.
