£70 plus £5 for materials
Weave a small tapestry reflecting the colours of early Autumn, inspired by the surroundings of the Mill. We will take a short stroll down to the bridge (weather permitting), looking at the colours, textures and patterns around us. We will then return to the workroom and explore how to capture what we have seen through weave, using simple techniques and a range of yarns. If you have woven before, we can look at specific techniques, including exploring blending, hatching and transparency. There will also be a chance to take inspiration from the exhibitions on at the time, especially Tapestry of the North. Suitable for beginners and improvers. Bring your own equipment if you have it, but there will also be looms warped up ready to go and a range of weft yarn for you to use. Additional equipment will be available for sale, should you wish to continue weaving after the workshop day (up to around £75).
