The Festival of Running is a community-focused sporting event designed to promote health, wellbeing and local engagement. The event combines competitive races with family-friendly activities, entertainment and refreshments, creating an inclusive and celebratory atmosphere for participants and spectators. There will be Half Marathon, 10k, 5k and family fun run.
The Festival of running will be taking place at the Workington Cricket Club, Ernest Valentine Ground, The Cloffocks, Workington, Cumbria, CA14 3YH. The 10k, 5K and Fun Run will start at Black Path by Allerdale House (CA14 3YL) and the Half Marathon will start at The Hall, Hall Park (CA14 4YB).
8.00am- Registration opens at the Cricket Club
9.30am- Half Marathon Starts at The Hall, Hall Park
12.00pm- 10k Start at Black Path by Allerdale House
1.30pm- 5k Start at Black Path by Allerdale House
2.30pm- Fun Run (Fancy Dress) Black Path by Allerdale House

Workington Cricket Club (Ernest Valentine Ground) at The Cloffocks.
When approaching via the A595:
Heading North (From the Whitehaven / Lillyhall direction):Follow the A595 north toward Workington.
As you approach the outskirts of town, follow the signs pointing toward Workington Train Station.
Continue onto the main roundabout near the Workington Reds Football Stadium (Derwent Park).
Follow the roundabout past Allerdale House (the borough council building) and turn left into the Cloffocks car park.
Heading West/South (From the Penrith / Cockermouth / A66 direction):
Follow the A595 / A66 toward Workington. At the roundabout approximately 7 miles from Cockermouth, take the 2nd exit onto Stainburn Road, following signs for Workington. At the next roundabout, continue straight ahead toward Workington and drive down to the first main set of traffic lights in the town centre. Get into the right-hand lane and turn right, heading downhill over Calva Bridge. Take a left at the mini-roundabout to head toward the Northside Roundabout. At the Northside Roundabout, take the 3rd exit heading past the Workington Reds Football Stadium. Take the access road just to the left of Allerdale House into the Cloffocks car park and head straight through to find the ground.
From Workington Bus Station (Murray Road Hub)
Walking time: approx. 5–7 minutes
Head north out of the bus station toward the Dunmail Park or Tesco direction.
Walk down Udale Street or Finkle Street heading toward the bottom of the town.
Cross the main road toward the Workington Leisure Centre and Tesco Superstore complex.
Walk past the Leisure Centre building; the cricket ground sits directly behind it on the Cloffocks.
From Workington Railway Station
Walking time: approx. 12–15 minutes
Exit the station onto Station Road and walk uphill toward the town centre.
Turn left onto Oxford Street and continue straight until you reach the pedestrianised shopping area (Washington Square).
Walk north straight through the shopping centre down toward Murray Road and the bus station.
From Murray Road, follow the path downhill past Allerdale House (the council building) or the Leisure Centre into the Cloffocks area to reach the ground.
From the Tesco / Cloffocks Bus Stop
Walking time: approx. 2–3 minutes
Alight the bus at the stop located near the large Tesco Superstore.
Head immediately east toward the Workington Leisure Centre.
Follow the paved footpath around the side of the Leisure Centre, which opens directly up onto the cricket club grounds.
