Our popular series of free Afternoon Recitals continues — we're delighted to welcome Chiara Lordi to the Fratry Hall.
While entry to our concerts is complimentary, we encourage contributions during the collection at the end of each performance to support both the talented artists and the Cathedral. Your generosity will help us continue to bring such enriching events to the community. We look forward to seeing you there!
Chiara Lordi is an award-winning pianist who has performed extensively across the UK and Italy. A first prize winner of the James Waterhouse Piano Competition, she has performed at Steinway Hall in London, and as a soloist at Edinburgh's Usher Hall at just 15 years old and the Queens Hall.
Since 2021, Chiara has given recitals across the UK, including performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, St Giles Cathedral, St Mary's Cathedral, and Morningside Parish Church. Internationally, she has performed in Italy, with appearances in Brescia, Perugia, and Cassino. In 2022, she gave a solo recital at the C. Bechstein Centre in Manchester and was invited to perform Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto with the RNCM Orchestra.
In 2023, Chiara performed selections from the Grieg Concerto in Perugia under the direction of Marius Stravinsky as part of Music Fest Perugia, and again in Brescia after winning the concerto class at the Talent Summer Course Festival. She also performed a recital at Teatro Manzoni in Cassino, Italy, which was broadcast on Radio Cassino. In 2024, she was a semi-finalist in the BBC Young Classical Musician of the Year, with her performance broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland, and a finalist in the Mark Ray Recital Prize at the Royal Northern College of Music. That August, she held a solo show at Stockbridge Parish Church during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, presenting a unique programme combining classical and pop repertoire.
Chiara graduated with first-class honours from the Royal Northern College of Music and is currently pursuing a Master's in Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
