Guided tour of the Roman fort at Maryport
About
Every Sunday at 2pm
Museum visitors can explore the earthworks of the Roman fort, led by the volunteer guides. The tours last for 30-45 minutes and are subject to the weather. The fort is situated in farmland, which is uneven and there may be sheep present.
Suitable footwear is recommended. We are grateful to the landowners (Cultura Trust) and their tenants for supporting the guided tours.
Dogs are not allowed on the tours (except registered guide/assistance dogs).

On entering Maryport follow the brown helmet signs.
The museum is on the Sustrans route 72 Hadruan's Wall Cycleway and on the King Charles III Coastal Path.
Public Transport Directions
By train: Northern Line between Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness - follow the blue finger posts from train station.
By bus: Maryport is served by Stagecoach 30, 300, 60 and 58 routes. The museum is approximately 15 minutes walk from the town centre. Follow blue finger posts.
