The Lake District Book Festival is an annual celebration of the written and the spoken word. It takes place at Cartmel Racecourse in Cumbria during the second weekend of June, the first festival taking place 12th-14th June 2026.
The Lake District Book estival is a long-term (10 years +) literary event of national and international standing that showcases the writing and literary talent of the north, bringing international writing and debate to the north, showcasing the excellence of food production in Cumbria. It brings the beauty of the Lake District in general and of Cartmel in particular under the national and international spotlight.
