The Tale of the Scarborough Estate – Where there's a Will, there's a Story
This is the story of the Scarborough estate in Ravenstonedale Parish. It is interesting because it included an inheritance from a woman in 1770 and was subsequently bequeathed to women in 1838.
It is also the story of a 1876 high court of justice case, nearly 50 years after the 1838 will was dated. It ends with the break-up of the Scarborough estate in 1879. It is a story in three chapters which come together to explain "The Ravenstonedale Inheritance of 1832 – Where there's a Will there's a Story"
